Current Activites offered by Preble County Home Educators

Kick off Picnic
Our picnic will be August 16 at 4:00 p.m. Please contact Penny for more details.
This will be our kick off to the new school year. We try to answer any questions about notification papers, we have sign-ups for the years activities, and we all enjoy fellowship with old friends as well as new comers to our group.

Choir
We currently offer 3 different choirs for home schooled children. We have a preschool choir that meets every other week during our choir time. We currently offer an elementary choir, for children 1st grade through 6th grade, as well as a senior choir for those children 7th through 12th grade. These choirs meet once a week. For more information contact Penny.

Art
We currently offer art at the Preble County Art Center in Eaton.
We have elementary art that is divided into two age groups that meet one week and on alternating weeks we have jr/sr high art. For more information contact Janet.

Talent Show
We have had a talent show for the last three years that has been well attended. We encourage all ages to participate. We have had singing, instrumental music, dancing, group singing, as well as joke telling, and poem reciting. We hold this event in January on a Friday evening. For more information contact Kim.

Year book
We are trying to do a yearbook every year for our students. This year we are asking that anyone who is interested in participating would do a scrapbook page for their own family. In the spring, we will make color copies of those pages and we all have an afternoon of exchanging and compiling them in our own notebooks. Sounds like a fun project. For more information contact Robin.

Science Fair, Spelling Bee, History Event.
We have had or are having all of these events at one time or another. We base these activities upon the interest level of the group each year. If someone feels it is important to their family, that particular year, they might be willing to chair the project and see it to completion. We try to get input from the members to make the decisions about these events. For more information contact Robin.

Fieldtrips
We try to organize at least four fieldtrips a year. These fieldtrips are generally ones that require a minimum number of participants and ones that require a little more organization. We encourage people to seek out any fieldtrips that might be available for smaller numbers, and inform others of their availability. For more information contact Lora.

Service Project/Outreach
We try to do service and outreach projects every year. We would hope to teach our children to have a servant’s heart through these projects. They also encourage our group to work together and get to know each other. We have participated in serving cookies at the Whispering Christmas Light Display in Eaton for the past several years. For more information contact Robin.

Graduation/Recognition Celebration
This is our newest addition to our current activities. We are seeking to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and surround them and their families with our support and caring. This year the focus will probably be on our graduating seniors. This is a developing activity, in its infant stages. For more information contact Robin.
